Ackless
privacy policy
This policy describes how the Ackless browser extension (“Ackless”, “the extension”) handles information. It applies to the extension distributed by obambulo studio, last updated 7 May 2026.
summary
Ackless does not run analytics, does not sell personal information, and does not transmit the addresses of pages you visit or the full text of pages to obambulo studio or other remote services as part of ordinary operation. Processing happens locally in your browser.
what Ackless processes on your device
To hide acknowledgement blocks and optionally adjust displayed place names, Ackless reads the live web page in your browser (the same page you already loaded) and inspects a limited portion of the DOM and visible text. That work stays on your device. The extension does not send a copy of page contents or URLs to us for cloud processing.
what is stored locally
Ackless may keep small pieces of information in your browser’s extension storage, for example:
- whether the extension is enabled or disabled;
- whether you have enabled matching on specific hostnames;
- simple aggregate counters related to how many acknowledgement blocks were hidden during use.
These values are not synchronized to obambulo studio servers by the extension itself. They remain under your browser vendor’s extension-storage mechanisms unless you use separate browser sync features outside Ackless (for example, a browser profile sync), which is governed by your browser vendor’s terms.
permissions
Ackless requests only the permissions it needs to function. That can include storage (for settings and counters) and access to the active tab (so you can opt the current site in from the popup). The extension does not declare broad host permissions purely to collect browsing history.
third parties
Ackless does not embed third-party advertising trackers or analytics SDKs for extension telemetry. If you install the extension from a browser store, that store operator may process technical or account information according to its own policies, independent of this notice.
open source and changes
Ackless is published as open-source software so its behaviour can be reviewed. The repository is at github.com/obambulo-studio/ackless . This policy may be updated when the extension or distribution changes materially; the “last updated” line at the top will change when it does.
